An Easy Way to Save Money on your Energy Prices

Gas and electricity prices seem to rise unabated and the main energy suppliers are ruffling a few feathers amongst MPs as it has been predicted that in the first six months of the year hundreds of millions of pounds of excess profits have been made by the big six. One gas supplier alone has made over £100m in extra profits so far this year, which is 25% more than over the same period last year.
Whilst the energy suppliers are blaming increased consumer prices on the increased wholesale costs of energy that they are forced to pay, there can be little justification for such huge increases in profit figures.
Overall the suppliers are expected to make from £14 billion to £19 billion in profits this year, though we all have the ability to reduce those figures by around £4 billion. £4 billion is the amount that British consumers could save simply by switching to alternative energy deals which charge considerably reduced prices.
By switching, many households could save around £400 a year on their energy bills, and anybody who hasn’t switched over recent years is likely to be able to save on average around £150. The easiest and most reliable way of switching is through a comparison website. All you need is your postcode, the amount that you currently spend on energy, and your current tariffs (which are printed on your energy bills). You can quickly compare what you spend now with what you would need to spend if you switched to alternative deals with the same or different suppliers.
Selecting the deals that could you save you the most money is easy, and you can see a complete breakdown on how the costs are calculated. Once you have found the deal that is best for you in terms of the prices you would pay, billing arrangements (for instance if you are happy with paperless billing), how you would prefer to pay (for instance by monthly or quarterly standing order) and any discounts for such things as dual fuel deals (which is purchasing your gas and electricity from a single supplier), all you need do in order to switch is enter some details and agree to the terms and conditions of your new supplier.
Saving money on your energy prices is easy; it takes just ten minutes of your time to save hundreds of pounds.
