Otleypeople has been live since July 2009 now, so we thought it was time for a bit of a redesign. Over the next few weeks, you'll see some major changes in the look and feel of the site and I wanted to give you a bit of advance warning about what was coming. None of your articles or comments or photos are going to disappear - we're just going to be changing the look and feel of the site, making everything faster, and making it easier...

At Otleypeople we are pretty keen on the Internet. It's a great way of getting a message out to lots of people, a democratic medium that anyone can use to be heard. There's 15,000 people who live in Otley and go online - that's about three quarters of the population of the town. So you'd think the three main candidates for this year's General Election - which now looks almost certain to be on 6th May - would be getting online too and...

Until the date of the General Election is actually announced, technically there are no candidates and no-one who plans to stand for election should call themselves one. Quick question for Otleypeople - how many pubs are there in Otley really? Wikipedia seems to have an ongoing controversy over the exact number and I guess it depends if you believe the Black Horse is coming back but really is it that hard to count some pubs up? I make 18 (including the Black Horse, on the assumption it will re-open one day). Any advance on 18?

When we do, you'll be able to see all of the results for Otley's schools in one place and compare them side by side. You can see below a screenshot of how the tables will look on a mock-up from another of our sites in Uckfield.
